Champagne Michel Turgy – Brut Blanc de Blancs Réserve Sélection

Guide VERON des Champagnes 2016

(around 18 euros per bottle)

Careful and traditional presentation. Satiny label, original.

Aspect :

·        Golden, bright and brilliant.
·        Fine bubbles.
·        Refined bead of bubbles, persistent.

Nose :

·        Initially shy but with a beautiful complexity, it slowly unveils its aromatic spectrum, between elegance and generosity.
·        Touching fragrances of citrus fruits, white flowers, apple, pear, apricot and grape, coupled with a hint of bitter almond and hazelnut, supported by a life-giving breath of iodine and mint, signatures of the Chardonnay, unique varietal of the cuvée.
·        Patience is rewarded by the appearance of subtle notes of butter and caramel, translation of the emerging maturity of the Champagne.

Palate :

·        Accurate and classy opening, thanks to the perfect control of the malolactic fermentation, partly realized on the base wines, to preserve the natural acidity of the grapes, reinforced by the adjusted dosage, with only 5 g/L of sugar added at the dosage, after the disgorgement.
·        The mouth is then revealed caressing and warm, almost sensual, supported by the vibrant minerality, expression of the Grand Cru terroir of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
·        Dense and tasty finish, underlined by the silky effervescence.
·        Great length on the palate.

With 80% of wines from the harvest of 2011 and 20% of reserve wines, this Brut Blanc de Blancs Réserve Sélection provides gentle emotions and gives a beautiful image of the expertise of Jean-Michel Turgy, its producer.

To taste from aperitif to meal, with cod petals in soft steam, for example.

Wine grower in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs, the Champagne House Turgy perpetuates the family tradition since 1881. A vineyard of 6 hectares, exclusively composed of Chardonnay and cultivated in the respect of the environment, and an accurate oenology give birth to 70,000 bottles of Champagnes revealing terroirs each year, essentially destined for export.
