Guide VERON des Champagnes 2017
(around
300 euros per bottle)
Mythical Champagne
Original and classy presentation, decorated with
carbon, noble and original material. Cap 24 carat gold plated.
Aspect:
Golden,
solar.
Fine
bubbles.
Elegant
bead of scattered bubbles.
Nose:
Radiant,
rich and generous.
Initially
marked by the Chardonnay (36%) carefully selected in the Grands Crus of Avize
and Cramant in the Côte des Blancs, with its delicate scents of citrus fruits,
apple, pear, apricot and raisin.
The
nose then establishes itself, with gourmet aromas of red and black fruits,
enhanced by noble spices, signatures of the Pinot Noir selected in the Mountain
of Reims on the Premiers Crus of Champillon and Avenay-Val-d’Or, and the Grands
Crus of Mailly-Champagne and Verzenay.
Later,
the cuvée unveils its joyful and
touching maturity, obtained by 7 years of patient ageing on laths of the
bottles, at 12°c, before disgorgement.
Palate:
Deep
opening, expression of the old vines (35 to 50 years old).
The
mouth then reveals a rare presence, magnificent match between reserved power
and heady minerality, perhaps obtained by the judicious fulfillment of the malolactic
fermentation of the base wines and reinforced by the adjusted dosage with only
4 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement.
Dense
and delicious finish.
Exceptional
length on the palate.
With
this Cuvée Carbon, original creation of Alexandre Méa, Jean-Loup Méa, his
father, cellar master and oenologist, signs an exceptional wine, festive and
gastronomic at once.
To
taste from aperitif to meal, to accompany a saddle of lamb roasted in herb
coating, for example.
Settled in

family tradition, between love for great terroirs
of Champagne and endless search for perfection. A vineyard of 10 hectares
spread over 7 Crus and cultivated with care, and a gentle and accurate
oenology, uncompromising, allow to produce around 85,000 bottles of exceptional
Champagnes per year.
