Guide VERON des Champagnes 2018

euros per bottle)
Mythical Champagne
Inimitable and sober
presentation for this emblematic cuvée
created in 1952 in homage to the Counts of Champagne.
Aspect:
White gold.
Bubbles of a rare
finesse.
Refined bead of foam.
Nose:
Joyful harmony, between
elegance and complexity.
The Chardonnay is slowly
unveiled with its touches of candied citrus fruits, pear, apricot and grape,
highlighted by a mentholated breath.
Later, the well-defined
maturity of the cuvée, result of 10
years of patient ageing on laths of the bottles before disgorgement in the
cellars of the old Saint-Nicaise abbey of the 18th century, in Reims, is
revealed with its aromas of pastries and caramel reinforced by 5% of the base
wines aged 4 months in new oak barrels.
Palate:
Pure opening, obtained
by the rigorous selection of the first juices (cuvée) during the soft pressing of the grapes, enhanced by the
heady minerality.
The vertiginous tension
gives way to a voluptuous caress, driven by the creamy effervescence.
Tasty, dense and deep
finish.
Fabulous length on the
palate.
Loïc Dupont, cellar
master of the Champagne House Taittinger, was able to compose the inspired blending
of the best Crus of the Côte des Blancs, to enhance the Chardonnay and to offer
us with this 2006 vintage a new opus of the cuvée
Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, with a touching sensuality.
Ideal to accompany your
intimate moments, with a sea bream fillet and candied vegetables, for example.
Pierre-Emmanuel
Taittinger joined the eponymous House in 1976, before buying it in 2006 to
perpetuate its human values and spirit of conquest, now surrounded by his
daughter Vitalie, artistic director and muse of the brand, and by his eldest
son Clovis, export director. A vineyard of 288 hectares, cultivated with the
real desire to reduce the environmental footprint, completed by a carefully
selected supply, gives birth to a collection of exceptional Champagnes.
