Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around 18 Euros per bottle)
The Champagne
Mouzon-Leroux is established in Verzy, in the heart of the Reims Mountain on a
10 hectares vineyard which is divided up into four terroirs classified « Premiers Crus » and « Grands
Crus » : Verzy, Verzenay, Ludes and Villers-Marmery.
The presentation of this Champagne is luxurious and
festive, in a special gorgeous flask.
Appearance :
- Light golden yellow
- Extremely fine bubbles
- Refined and persistent Cordon
Aroma :
- Elegant and subtle, nice
expression of the Chardonnay being the exclusive grape variety of
this Vintage
- First nose marked by citrus (lemon, grapefruit)
- Development on peach, grapes, dry apricot and fig.
Taste :
- Attack of a great pureness, frank and precise
thanks to the judicious stuck of the malolactic fermentation driven by
Sébastien Mouzon, its maker.
- The mouth then reveals itself as mineral and deep, expression of
the Verzy “Grands Crus” soils
- Slightly acid finale peppered with the delicious bitterness of
grapefruit
- Good length on the palate.
The emotion that one gets from this
blending Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2004 – Grand Cru could be qualified as rare. It
expresses the know-how of its maker, Sébastien Mouzon, who managed to implement
a viti-viniculture process in compliance with the environmental requirements.
To be served with the aperitif together with salmon toasts or why not to accompany seafood.
