Guide VERON des Champagnes 2013
(around 14 Euros per bottle)
Situated
in Chamery for generations, a village classified Premier Cru in the
heart of the Mountains of Reims; the Champagne House of Gérard Perseval
cultivates three traditional champenois varietals (Chardonnay, Pinot
Noir and Pinot Meunier) using environmentally friendly methods.
A
traditional look.
Appearance :
·
Pale gold with green glints
·
Fine perlage
·
Persistent bead of bubbles
· Clear and bright
Nose :
·
Subtle and captivating
·
The first nose is complex, with notes of citrus fruit,
white flowers, apple, pear and almond, typical expressions of Chardonnay, the
sole vine of this Cuvée
·
Left to breathe, you are rewarded with buttery toasted
notes, signs of the excellent maturity of this Champagne, obtained by ageing sur
lattes for three years
· Delicately woody, slight hint of vanilla, the result of ageing 10% of the base wines in oak barrels for 11 months
Palate :
·
A lively and fresh attack, which quickly leaves room
revealing a sweet and generous roundness
·
Revealing the citrus fruits and delicate woody notes already
perceived at the nose
·
Delicate effervescence
· Considerable length on the palate
With
this Cuvée Brut Réserve, Gérard Perseval has obtained a superb Blanc de Blancs,
great value for money.
Drink
as an aperitif or, why not, during a meal with a first course or shellfish.
