Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately 41 euros
a bottle)
Wine grower at Avize
since 3 generations, the Champagne Franck Bonville relies on its vineyard of 20
hectares, exclusively planted with Chardonnay Grand Cru, on the noble soils of
the Côte des Blancs (Oger, Avize and Cramant), cultivated in the greatest respect
for the environment, to craft and market 160,000 bottles every year of Champagnes
of character.
Visual aspect:
·
Golden, with green tinges.
·
Fine bubbles.
·
Elegant bead of bubbles
Nose:
·
First
subtle and sensual, then with a rare intensity.
·
Blooming
maturity, with aromas of Viennese pastries, honey and caramel, evolving to
shades of roasted coffee, result of 4 years ageing on laths of the bottles,
before disgorgement.
·
Delicate
woodiness, with delicate spices (vanilla, cinnamon), result of the maturing of
the base wines in Burgundy oak barrels during one year, before a meticulous
selection during the tasting (15 barrels out of 40), for the blending.
·
Scents of citrus,
apple, pear, apricot and raisins, delicately mentholated, inimitable marks of
the Chardonnay.
Palate:
·
Fresh firs taste, enabled thanks to the light dosage
with only 5g/L of added sugar during the disgorgement, with a dense minerality,
certainly the inimitable mark of the plot Les Belles Voyes (a reference to the
good path that connects the villages of the vineyards, half way up hillside), at
Oger, almost 100 years old, exclusive origin of the grapes selected during the
great year 2008 (80%), complemented with 2007 (20%).
·
Sensual roundness, served by a sweet sparkling.
·
Remarkable length on the palate.
With this
confidential cuvée Les Belles Voyes (4,000
bottles), Olivier Bonville, enologist and cellar master of the Champagne Franck
Bonville, signs a rare Champagne, successfully completed, with a moving
personality.
To enjoy with a
gastronomic meal, with a gratin of filet mignon with pears and lemons, for
example.
