Guide VERON des Champagnes 2018
(around 25 euros per
bottle)
Original and luxurious
presentation, in a traditional bottle engraved with the note « GRAND CRU ».
Aspect:
Golden, bright and
crystal-clear.
Fine and dynamic
bubbles.
Elegant bead of bubbles
persistent after the Champagne service.
Nose:
Intense and festive,
source of emotions and intense pleasures.
Heady scents of red and
black fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry, redcurrant and
blueberry), touching and endless harmony.
Later, subtle spices
(liquorice and nutmeg) maliciously mingle with aromas of caramel and roasted
coffee, expressions of the maturity of the Champagne obtained by the blending
of base wines from four years of harvest (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014).
Palate:
Lively opening, obtained
by the rigorous selection of the cuvée
(first juices), purer, during the pressing of the grapes, and reinforced by the
adjusted dosage with only 5 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement.
The mouth is then slowly
unveiled, tasty and warm, perhaps thanks to the judicious fulfilment of the
malolactic fermentation of the base wines, decorated with touching touches of
cherry liqueur and mirabelle plum.
Dense finish, barely
mentholated, highlighted by a touching minerality.
Great length on the
palate.
With this Brut Blanc de
Noirs, last creation of the House, Patrick Manceaux, its producer, offers us a
Champagne with personality, inspired interpretation of the Grand Cru terroir of Mailly-Champagne, exclusive
origin of the Pinot Noir.
To taste from aperitif
to meal, with a candied leg of lamb, for example.
Settled in
Rilly-la-Montagne, in the Mountain of Reims, Agnès and her brother Patrick
Manceaux cultivate with passion their vineyard of 12 hectares, driven by love
of the land and the constant desire to reduce the environmental footprint.
Around 90,000 bottles of a range of highly expressive Champagnes are produced
each year with gentleness and accuracy, variations inspired around Grands Crus
and Premiers Crus terroirs.
