Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019
(around
128 euros per bottle)
Mythical champagne
Splendid bottle, emblematic of the brand,
with a beautiful cap.
Aspect:
Golden and brilliant.
Refined bubbles.
Delicate bead of foam, persistent.
Nose:
Radiant and endless aromatic harmony.
The sensual aromas of white fruits, citrus
fruits and peach, outstanding expressions of the Chardonnay (50%) gently mingle
with scents of candied red and black fruits, characteristic signs of the black
varietals with 45% of Pinot Noir and 5% of Meunier.
Later, the maturity enchants us with gentle
notes of pastries, chocolate and roasted coffee, result of 5 years of ageing on
laths of the bottles in the cellars of the house, before riddling and
disgorgement.
Palate:
Outstanding vitality at the opening,
highlighted by the intense minerality.
The mouth becomes caressing, gentle and
silky, obtained by the generous dosage with 9 g/L of sugar added at
disgorgement, enhanced by the lively effervescence.
Finish supported by a life-giving energy,
subtly spicy.
Rare length on the palate.
For this cuvée
Belle époque 2011, Hervé Deschamps, cellar master of the Champagne house
Perrier-Jouët since 1993, was able to orchestrate with sensitivity the osmosis
between the exceptional terroirs,
with 6 Grands Crus (Cramant, Avize and Chouilly for the Chardonnay ; Mailly,
Verzy and Aÿ for the Pinot Noir) and a Premier Cru (Dizy for the Meunier).
To taste from aperitif to gourmet meal, with
barely smoked eels from Somme, for example.
Founded in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and
Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, the Champagne house Perrier-Jouët continues its endless
quest for excellence, without compromise, between tradition and creativity.
Grapes selected in an exceptional vineyard, for instance with Chardonnays from
the best Crus of the Côte des Blancs, meticulously vinified by Hervé Deschamps,
7th cellar master, in small volumes to separate the terroirs, give birth to an unique range
of champagnes with an inimitable refined and floral signature.
