Clone selection of the
vines: this recent technique,
created in the early 60s, consists in obtaining clones thanks to cuttings
(vegetative propagation, without genetic manipulation), i.e. all the same
vines, stemming from one and only vine stock chosen for its qualities. The wine grower who chooses to plant his
plots with vines stemming from clone selection will get more regular yields and
quality of the crop along th years, and the yields will be better. His champagnes
might loose a bit of complexity and density.
