Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019
(around
19 euros per bottle)
Sober and harmonious bottle.
Aspect:
Golden
and bright.
Fine
and dynamic bubbles.
Silky
tears.
Nose:
Initially
luxuriant and festive, the seductive harmony slowly structures itself.
Endless
compilation of fragrances of red and black fruits compote, delicious signatures
of the majority of Meunier (65%), emblematic of the brand, and of the Pinot
Noir (35%), enhanced by a life-giving breath, iodized and mentholated.
Later,
the cuvée becomes sensual with aromas
of honey and marzipan highlighted by a touch of exotic fruits and spices, thanks
to the patient ageing of the bottles (3 years) before riddling and
disgorgement.
Palate:
Tonic attack driven by a dynamic
effervescence.
The joyful tension, reinforced by the
rigorous selection of the first juices (cuvée),
purer, during the soft pressing of the grapes, gives way to a remarkable
presence, supported by the generous dosage with 10 g/L of sugar added at
disgorgement.
We find again the red fruits already
perceived at the nose, driven by the exciting minerality of the terroir of Binson-et-Orquigny,
Villers-sous-Châtillon and Reuil.
Very great length on the palate.
With
this cuvée Fragment de Noirs Brut,
Charlène Loriot and her father Xavier were able to accompany with accuracy the
alchemy of vintages, Crus and varietals, to offer us an audacious champagne,
with a dazzling vitality.
Ideal
to accompany an aperitif dînatoire, or during a meal with a duck, cherries and
courgette cannelloni, for example.
Founded in 1891 by George Jobert, the Champagne
house Xavier Loriot has not ceased to establish its confident style for over
120 years, resolutely avant-gardist. A vineyard of 10.5 hectares, established
on the right bank of the Marne Valley, cultivated with a real desire to reduce
the environmental footprint, enables Charlène Loriot to express her overflowing
œnological creativity since 2000, alongside her father Xavier and her sister
Marine, to offer a collection of dazzling champagnes.
