Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019
(around 30 euros per bottle)
Amber, original and luxurious bottle.
Aspect:
Gold, brilliant.
Fine bubbles.
Elegant corolla of bubbles.
Nose:
Radiant aromatic breath, source of
outstanding emotions.
The aromas of citrus fruits, apple and pear
compote, highlighted by a breath of fresh mint, signatures of the Chardonnay
(50%), gently interlace the scents of red and black fruits, delicately spicy,
characteristic signs of the Pinot Noir (50%).
Later, the champagne reveals its maturity
with fragrances of caramel and roasted coffee, result of 5 years of ageing on
laths of the bottles, before riddling and disgorgement.
Palate:
Pure attack thanks to the rigorous selection
of the first juices (cuvée) during
the pressing of the grapes, reinforced by the perfect control of the malolactic
fermentation, partially blocked on a part of the Chardonnay base wines.
The mouth then unveils a remarkable presence,
underlined by the accurate dosage, with 6 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement,
in the form of grape sugar.
Deliciously acidulous finish.
Endless length on the palate.
For this cuvée L’Ode à la Joie Millésime 2011, symbol of fraternity between
people, Juliette Pointillart was able to accompany with sensitivity the osmosis
between the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir, selected in her Premier Cru plots in
Ecueil, to celebrate the unbreakable friendship which miraculously saved her
grandfather’s life (André Leroy), during the second world war.
To taste from aperitif to
meal, with a tuna half-cooked on plancha, for example.
