Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019
(around
29 euros per bottle)
Engraved, sober and luxurious bottle.
Aspect:
Golden, bright and brilliant.
Very fine bubbles.
Fine bead of foam.
Nose:
Radiant and touching.
The aromas of candied red and black fruits
gently interlace touches of citrus fruits, fig and quince to reveal the heady
characteristic sign of the Meunier, exclusive varietal of the cuvée carefully sorted during the manual
harvest of 2007 in old plots of vine (65 years old in average), with a good
southern exposure, in Trélou in the Marne Valley.
Later, the absolute maturity of the champagne
is unveiled with generous scents of honey, pastries and then roasted coffee,
result of 10 years of ageing on laths of the bottles.
Palate:
Delicious liveliness, enhanced by the timely
stop of the malolactic fermentation of the base wines and by the absence of
dosage (no sugar added at disgorgement).
The mouth becomes caressing, underlined by
the particular minerality and highlighted by the silky effervescence.
Exceptionally dense finish, balanced,
punctuated by subtle spices.
Endless length on the palate.
With this cuvée Exclusif 2007, Franck Météyer, wine grower, reveals with talent the captivating soul of the Meunier in its favourite terroir, enhanced by the years of ageing: a jewel of Champagne, unmissable.
To taste as an aperitif or during a meal,
after decanting, with a red mullet, for example.
Sixth generation of passionate
wine growers, Franck Météyer continues with his wife Anna the family adventure
started in Trélou, in the heart of the Marne Valley, in 1860. Resolutely
heading for œnotourism, labellisé Vignobles & Découvertes and La Champagne
- Refined Art de Vivre, awarded by UNESCO the Pierre Cheval de l’Embellissement
prize in June 2017, he cultivates his 14 hectares vineyard in the greatest
respect of the environment. Thus, 45,000 bottles of authentic champagnes are
produced with accuracy each year in the cellars of the house.
