Guide VERON des Champagnes 2019
(around
45 euros per bottle)
Refined bottle, emblematic of the brand.
Aspect:
Pale gold, crystal-clear.
Very fine bubbles.
Fine bead of bubbles.
Nose:
Generous and sensual, reinforced by the long
period between disgorgement and shipment (3 to 6 months).
The fragrances of candied red and black
fruits take us, driven by delicate spirituous touches, delicious characteristic
signs of the black varietals (33% of Pinot Noir and 33% of Meunier).
Later, the nose reveals all its elegance with
heady touches of white fruits, citrus fruits, apricot and grape, supported by
an iodized breath, signatures of the Chardonnay (34%).
Palate:
Bright vitality at the opening, lively and
deep thanks to the selection of the first juices during the soft pressing of
the grapes, enhanced by the vibrant minerality.
The maturity is revealed, obtained by 8 years
of patient ageing on laths of the bottles and highlighted by the judicious
dosage with 7 g/L of sugar added at disgorgement.
Dense finish, punctuated by subtle spices
(pepper, liquorice and cinnamon).
Endless length on the palate.
With this cuvée Brut Renaissance Premier Cru 2009, Alexandre Cattier was able
to accompany with talent the meeting of the three champenois varietals to offer us a joyful interpretation of this
beautiful year 2009.
To taste from aperitif to meal, with a walnut of sweetbread
glazed with citrus fruits juices, for example.
Wine growers in Chigny-les-Roses since 1625,
the Cattier family continues his endless quest for excellence since the
production of the first bottles in 1916 by Jean Cattier (father). The 33
hectares vineyard composed of the three champenois
varietals, mainly established in the Premiers Crus of the Mountain of Reims, is
cultivated with the greatest care, following the example of Le Clos du Moulin
with 2.20 hectares, first Clos of Champagne acquired in 1951, cultivated with
horse and vinified separately. Around 600,000 bottles of rare champagnes are
thus crafted and shipped each year in over 80 countries.
