Guide VERON des Champagnes 2012
(around 19 Euros per bottle)
The Jacques Copin Champagne is
made out from a vineyard of some 10 hectares located in the heart of the valley
of the Marne river. It consists of 66% of Pinot Meunier, 21% of Pinot Noir and
13% of Chardonnay on the districts of Verneuil, Vandières, Vincelles, Try and Dormans.
The golden and brown label as well as the glass of the
flask is original and luxurious. The presentation of this Champagne is elegant
and hearty.
Appearance :
- Light golden yellow with green flashes
- Fine bubbles
- Refined and persistent Cordon
- Great brilliance
Aroma :
- Great
complexity
- Brioche and bun overtones which prove the well mastered maturity
obtained on the one hand during the harvesting and on the other hand
during the long ageing on lath (7 years)
- Development towards crystallized
citrus and roasted coffee overtones.
Taste :
- Lively and mineral attack which is amazing if one
refers to the scorching year of 2003
- Aroma of honey and roasted coffee
- The citrus taste at mouth end translates the 50% of Chardonnay of
this blending
- Open roundness in the finish thanks to the Pinot Noir which
completes the blending
- Full-bodied length on the palate.
The hearty and sensuous personality
of this Champagne Brut Vintage 2003 is a great reward for its maker, Bruno
Copin.
Ideal for the aperitif or can happily be served all
along your festive meals.
