Guide VERON des Champagnes 2015
(approximately 51 euros
a bottle)
Established in Aÿ
since 1838, the house Deutz relies on a vineyard of about 200
hectares, among which 42 self-owned hectares, located in the great terroirs of
Champagne (Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, the region of Epernay and the
Marne Valley), carefully farm with respect for the environment, to craft and
market high-quality Champagnes.
Sober and luxurious
presentation. Symbolic bottle of the brand.
Viisual aspect:
·
Golden and gleaming.
·
Particularly refined bubbles.
·
Elegant and persistent bead of bubbles.
Nose:
·
Blooming and sensual, in perpetual evolution, rich and harmonious.
·
First with generous shades of red fruits (strawberry, raspberry,
blackcurrant,..) and cherries in brandy, signatures of the 63% of Pinot Noir
selected in the terroirs of Bouzy, Louvois, Verzenay and Aÿ, and 5% of Pinot
Meunier picked in Pierry and Moussy.
· Later, the nose reveals notes of citrus, apple and pear, then apricot, grapes, almond and exotic fruits (kiwi and mango), thanks to the 32% of Chardonnay from Avize, Vertus, Chouilly and Villers-Marmery.
Palate:
·
Clean first taste, with a dense, peculiar minerality, swiftly
joined by a broad, warm and silky roundness.
·
Remarkable presence, almost structured, maybe thanks
to the Pinot Noir.
· Sweet notes of caramel and Viennese pastries, expressions
of the great maturity of the cuvée, obtained by a long ageing on laths of the
bottles (6 years), in the deep cellars of the house (30 metres).
·
Finish supported by a delicious spicy taste (liquorice,
cinnamon).
· Very great length on the palate.
With this Brut Millésimé 2006, Michel Davesne, cellar master of the Champagne Deutz, managed to mobilize all his enologic talent to offer us a magnificent interpretation of the year 2006, completely in line with the house’s Champagnes.
To taste during a festive meal, with a fillet of turbot in puff pastry with pink pepper sauce, for example.
